DISTANT INTENTION AND WATER CRYSTAL RESEARCH: A 2006 EXPLORE study tested whether distant intention could affect ice crystal images formed from water and reported that crystals from treated water received higher aesthetic ratings than controls. The study tested whether water exposed to distant human intention would form ice crystals that looked more aesthetically beautiful than crystals from untreated control water. Over three days, about 1,900 people in Austria and Germany focused their intention on water samples kept inside an electromagnetically shielded room in California, while nearby and distant control samples were not targeted. The water was later frozen, photographed, and judged by more than 2,500 independent people who did not know which samples had received intention. The outcome was that the intentionally treated water crystals were rated as more beautiful than the proximal control crystals, with a modest statistically significant result reported at p = 0.03, one-tailed.
